Position: Project Manager, Software Vendor

Position Description:

IT MindFinders is conducting a search for a Project Manager for one of our Burnaby based Software Vendor Clients. Our client is an American, well-established, and successful provider of enterprise level financial applications.

Reporting directly to the Canadian Manager of Implementations, this project managment role will participate in strategic planning sessions with both the company as well as their clients to determine the scope and objectives for each software implementation project.

This role will be lead mid-sized projects located within the Canadian geography and travel is a mandatory requirement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES

  • Responsible for overseeing the development, maintenance or enhancement of systems and programs to ensure they are created according to client specification
  • Responsible for providing managerial oversight and control to multiple concurrent project teams.
  • Responsible for monitoring progress, then updating clients and management on progress and resolving any conflicts between client expectations and actual work output.
  • Manages change control, time reporting and issue resolution throughout the project.
  • Maintains client involvement in design choices and changes throughout the course of the project.
  • Responsible for identifying managing, and, as possible, mitigating risks to timely and economical project completion.
  • Provides input/justification for project costs and budget impact.
  • Responsible for effectively coordinating the activities of the team to meet project milestones.
  • Prepares and distributes regular status reports to facilitate and ensure communication between project resources, contributors, other departments and clients.

MUST HAVE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business, or equivalent education in a related discipline is required
  • Minimum (6) years as project manager coordinating medium to large-scale projects.
  • Strongly developed ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. 
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of data and to deal with both concrete and abstract variables
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Exceptionally strong written and verbal English as well as developed non-verbal communication skills.
  • In depth knowledge of MS Project and MS Office software.
  • Proven ability in leadership and team development in a project context.
  • Unflappable personality.
  • Ability to travel on business up to 25% as required
  • Definite preference will be given for a Financial Services industry experience.
