Position:  Project Manager / Business Analyst

Position Description:

IT MindFinders is conducting a search for a Business Analyst with Project Management background for our downtown Vancouver based client. The Business Analyst will report directly to the Manager, Business Applications and be responsible for provide business consulting to an enterprise wide user community helping them identify user needs, process improvement opportunities and opportunities to leverage technology.

 

Additionally this role will analyze user requirements and lead system implementations of vendor packaged software or in-house developed solutions while building strong client relationships with the business areas. Working with vendors and stakeholders to guarantee technical solutions meet required specifications will be mandatory as well as ensuring quality and delivery schedules are maintained. Oversees and performs Project Management role for the development and implementation of new or enhanced systems.

 

Travel will be a requirement of the role.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide business consulting to internal customers and lead business requirements gathering meetings and workshops.

  • Coordinate the development of comprehensive business cases with cost and benefit analysis for proposed new solutions and IT projects that are used at management and executive levels for funding and scoping decisions.

  • Participate in cross-functional teams to identify, define, validate and document the processes and business rules, recommend process changes and define processes related to technical design requirements and information sources.

  • Facilitate and mange the development of system specifications through detailed analysis with the business unit, IT and vendors.

  • Perform market research on emerging and available products and applications.

  • Creates RFPs and RFIs for business initiatives and IT projects.

  • Perform the role of Project Manager on approved initiatives and manage the project, from conception to definition, implementation and completion phase ensuring that technical solutions meet the required specifications, quality and delivery schedule.

  • Manage the acceptance of applications and application enhancements via formal test processes.

  • Act as a subject matter expert and assists in establishing Service Level Agreements. Manage client expectations.

  • Work closely with the IT management team, support and customer care teams and other internal partners to satisfy all customer requirements.

  • Participate in the growth of Information Technology and the development of IT standards and methodologies. 

Must Have Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or other related filed and at least 5 years relevant work experience.

  • Previous experience analyzing business requirements, build business cases, manage change, and apply best technical solutions.

  • Background in applying technologies to business initiatives, and identify and apply productivity improvements and expertise to business and technical aspects of processes being automated.

  • Competent with analyzing and documenting complex business processes and procedures, including re-engineering of business practices.

  • Leading and facilitating requirements gathering and process review workshops.

  • Defining technological and resource requirements and identify appropriate solutions

  • Developing application strategic plans and practical implementation strategies relative to business applications and business intelligence.

  • Effectively communicating complex information to a non-technical audience including presentations to functional business groups and end users. Work with various stakeholders and IT steering committees.

  • Conducting the process according to established IT best practices and methodologies. Preparing reports and presenting them to IT management.

  • Creating baseline project

  • Experience with a broad range of applications and technologies including Databases – SQL and Oracle, Business Applications - Microsoft Dynamics – Great Plains, Integration, Portals, Infrastructure, Data Warehousing, ETL tools, Application Development and Change Management Tools, SOA Architectures, Web Application Development and Reporting.
