Position: Director, Information Technology
Location: Vancouver, BC
IT MindFinders is conducting a search for a senior Director, Information Technology for the Vancouver based corporate office of a North American manufacturing company.
Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Finance, The Director, Information Technology’s primary responsibility is to provide strong and focused leadership to a North American distributed IT department and align the group with the business objectives of the organization. The chief goal of the successful candidate will be to develop a complete and thorough IT strategy while leading the delivery of service to a diverse global organization.
Responsibilities:
Formulate and deploy long-term strategic plans for acquiring and enabling efficient and cost-effective information processing and communication technologies
Manage IT infrastructure in terms of operational and strategic planning, including business requirements, project planning, and organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources
Benchmark, analyze, report on, and make recommendations for the improvement of the IT infrastructure and IT systems
Administration of infrastructure and system implementation projects including: outsourcing evaluation, virtualization, storage consolidation, backup, disaster recovery planning, telecommunication, and change management
Define and communicate project milestones, service level agreements, and resource allocation
Review performance of IT systems to determine operating costs, productivity levels, and upgrade requirements
Develop bid requirements for all hardware and software upgrades, review submitted bids for compliance with stated requirements, and make the appropriate award
Authorize and oversee the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, and support of all hardware and software based on department needs
Develop business case justifications and cost/?benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives
Direct research on potential technology solutions and implementations in support of new initiatives, opportunities, and procurement efforts
Oversee provision of end-user services, including help desk and technical support services
Oversee negotiation and administration of vendor, outsourcer, and consultant contracts and service agreements
Manage global IT staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions
Qualifications:
Computer Science or Management Degree, MBA would be an asset
Minimum 10+ years experience leading an internationally distributed IT group of 20+ individuals in a fluid, fast paced environment
A history of exceptional people leadership and communication
Proven experience in IT infrastructure strategic planning and development, project management, and policy development
Good understanding and technical knowledge of current network and PC operating systems, hardware, protocols, and standards
Experience with systems design and development from business requirements analysis through to day-to-day management
Experience in developing and implementing a sourcing strategy for a global IT organization
Knowledge of business theory, business processes, management, budgeting, and business office operations
Superior understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives
Demonstrated ability to apply IT in solving business problems
In-depth knowledge of applicable laws and regulations as they relate to IT
Strong understanding of human resource management principles, practices, and procedures
