IT MindFinders is conducting a client search for an Enterprise Infrastructure Architect (EIA) who will design and maintain the target Infrastructure object model and assess the impact of the future business architecture on existing and future Infrastructures architecture. The EAI will work with other architects to determine the most appropriate Infrastructure partitioning to achieve the performance and scalability requirements in accordance with the business and IT strategies.
The EIA will engage with vendors and analysts to understand Infrastructures trends and futures and ensure our client is positioned to take advantage of new directions for Infrastructures. The EIA will participate in business and technology planning sessions and anticipate future business/technology changes. Working with Business, Information and Application Architects will review business drivers, needs and strategies and understand implications to the Infrastructure architecture. The EIA will also work closely with the operations department to define proper platforms for applications defining strategy that will allow growth.
Responsibilities
This position will contribute to the company’s success through excellent customer service and meeting or exceeding performance objectives for the following major job functions:

Define and implement enterprise level infrastructure technical standards, guidelines, metrics, architectures and processes to the solutions development, and operations teams to standardize the solutions, improve the speed and cost of the company’s technology as well as ensure alignment with customer, product group and corporate standards.

Maintain a solid relationship with development team designers and project managers to ensure development teams know the business partners issues/directions/challenges and that the business partner views the company as having an extremely strong infrastructure architecture capability.

Co-develop with the client an enterprise view of the as-is and to-be infrastructure environments.

Perform technical reviews and design sign-offs on all major infrastructure projects to ensure all projects are properly estimated, architected and will be implemented and operated without incident.

Collaborate and participate with other technical leaders as part of the Technology Strategy Group in setting technical direction globally.

Evaluate new and emerging tools and technologies with respect to current and future customer solutions.

Work closely with other architects and ensure that the functional deliverables meet or exceed the overall architecture vision

Provide technical expertise to peers and associates on the overall infrastructure architecture as it relates to the IT and business strategies.

Assist in insuring that the infrastructure aligns with the overall enterprise architecture goals.

Serve as the infrastructure architect technical lead in the assessment, analysis, and design phases of the IT related projects.

Document the Infrastructure architecture environment and procedures to insure the infrastructure remains cost effective, efficient, and of high quality.

Maintain expertise in the area of architecture, including industry trends, strategies, and products to ensure that assets are effectively and efficiently utilized.

Provide technical IT expertise to, and assist in, the selection of new hardware and software platforms which assists in attaining the enterprise architecture goals.

Off hours/on call support as required.

Work with applications leaders and others in virtual teams to address particular issues and to broaden understanding and buy-in.

Communicate implications of architectural decisions, issues and plans to business and technology leadership

Provide expert knowledge of Infrastructure architecture and consult to Business and Technology teams when detailed Infrastructure architecture knowledge is needed, and identify/mitigate risks to delivering solution on time.

Will oversee creation and maintenance of Infrastructure and system documentation used in design, testing and programming.

It should be emphasized that this role has a pragmatic focus that considers delivery in conjunction with strategy.

Skills & Qualifications

Degree/Major: BS Information Systems, MBA is a plus or equivalent experience
-
12+ years in IT Infrastructure solution positions with high-level problem solving and technical project management.

Minimum 5 years of Infrastructures Architect experience in the design and implementation of large-scale, multi-tiered, heterogeneous IT infrastructures.

World-class experience and multiple years architecting and designing infrastructure and operational support processes.

Solid experience with security, hosting, and storage products, practices and tools.

Strong interpersonal skills, working in an all inclusive team environment

Must be knowledgeable in security devices, networking, server engineering, enterprise monitoring

Expert in performance optimization, integration, replication, and messaging.

Strong knowledge of disaster recovery and high availability strategy.

Highly competent in project and process management, planning, workflow, multi-tasking and problem solving, negotiation. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills.

Strong experience in enterprise scheduling and monitoring processes & technologies

Solid understanding of grid computing concepts and implementations

Strong knowledge of Oracle database technologies (9i and higher)

Deep technical expertise in Windows 2000, Active Directory, Capacity Planning, Enterprise Architectures, IIS and Security

An understanding of network technology: LAN/WAN topology.

Knowledge of Exchange/AD, SMS, Citrix, SQL Server, Tivoli, etc.

Familiarity of SAN and NAS environments and diskless operation.

Familiarity with UNIX-based OSes:ý AIX, Linux, etc.

Knowledge in methods of automating and scripting OS/Application installations.

Experience with Hardware and Operating System design, configuration, integration, and support.
