Technical Opportunities

IT MindFinders is conducting a search for a Technical Architect for our client, a Western Canadian Infrastructure Consulting firm. In addition to designing Backup & Recovery solutions, the ideal candidate will also be a Storage Specialist.

This permanent position is suited to a successful consultant with technical experience designing client solutions using Veritas Netbackup and/or Tivoli Storage Manager and/or Legato Networker. A broad level of expertise in IBM and EMC storage is a definite asset. 

The presales/customer facing component of this role is approximately 30% and is focused on supporting the company's successful and active local Account Executive through the sales process. Very strong business communication (verbal and written) skills are mandatory. Company clients range from medium corporations to large corporations and previous consulting experience is considered to be a significant asset.

In addition to the required design experience, the successful candidate will also be responsible for implementing their backup and recovery/storage designs. Previous experience delivering Infrastructure solutions of varying complexity and scale as well as ensuring all client change & incident management procedures are followed and their environments are secure, reliable, and all data is protected from failure is mandatory.

Must Have Skills:

• Minimum of 5+ years experience building / deploying server hardware infrastructure

• Proven ability to document problems and solutions that address technical issues

• Excellent project, time management and troubleshooting skills

• Minimum 3 - 5 years experience with supporting Veritas Netbackup, Tivoli storage manager (TSM) or similar tape backup technologies.

• Install and integration experience of Enterprise Storage subsystems and Enterprise Backup software and tape libraries into heterogeneous server environments

• Minimum 3 - 5 years experience in implementing NAS, DASD, and fiber based storage area networks: LUN carving, storage management, email / file archiving, log retention and replication services

• Operational and architectural knowledge of SCSI, ISCSI, FCIP, fibre channel, LUN masking, host bus fibre channel connection, host based volume managers, fibre channel technology and data replication, with and without the use of extenders

• Willing to attain and maintain technical certifications with major vendors

• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal

• Ensure client change & incident management procedures are followed and that their environments are secure, reliable, and all data is protected from failure

• Ability to be on call 24/7

• Flexibility to travel is required
