IT MindFinders is conducting a search for a Senior Systems Administrator on behalf of our client located in Vancouver, BC. Reporting to the Director of IT, the Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for the optimal operation of all corporate systems infrastructure as well as ensuring that the needs of internal users are met in a timely manner. The successful candidate for this role will ultimately be responsible for the following:
- Providing support to the overall operations of networks and systems consisting of all network, server, and databases.
- Working closely with the IT Director to identify, implement, develop and maintain cost effective and innovative technology solutions.
- Providing technical expertise and end user support within other departments.
- Mentoring/coaching of the Desktop Support Analyst.
- Participating in the development of the IT budget.
- Participate in system testing, performance tracking and security reviews.
- Developing related support documentation, system processes and procedures.
- Configuring Exchange Server, email accounts, distribution lists and user ID’s.
- Conducting regular system back ups for all servers.
- Purchasing hardware/software as needed.
- Maintaining all office systems.
- Maintaining virus detection software on servers, Exchange, workstations and laptops.
Must Have Skills and Requirements:
- University or college degree in information technology science or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 6 years experience in a Windows environment
- 2 years+ experience in a mentoring/supervising capacity within a technical environment
- solid experience with systems support and administration in a Windows 2003 environment including hands-on experience with backup and recovery, domain administration, VPN’s, Exchange 2003 administration and SQL 2000 administration
- demonstrated experience with MS Exchange 2003, Windows 2003 Server (including Active Directory, Group Policies, DNS, IIS, WAN/LAN, Security), Windows XP, RedHat Linux, AS/ES, Terminal Server, Checkpoint Firewall, Backup Exec, anti-virus software, hardware diagnostics, software installation and support of off-site users
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
