Position: Senior Java Developer
Location: Vancouver, BC
IT MindFinders is conducting a search for a Senior Java Developer on behalf of our client located in Vancouver, BC. Reporting to the VP Engineering with a dotted line report to a Project Director, the SJD will be active in developing key extensions for our client’s hosted software product. Applicants must have a strong design background and an ability to work in a fast paced, agile environment and have outstanding rendering of designs to functional Java code, attention to quality and testability, and performance. In addition, the SJD will work heavily with XML protocol development, provisioning subsystems creation, database development, and user interface/web facing implementation. This includes implementation of a component-based, multi-tier application with components communicating via web services.
Responsibilities:
Participation in clarifying feature and subsystem requirements
Design work necessary to define tasks and implementation
Construction including source coding, code review, unit testing, and integration
Integration of open source packages as needed to achieve functionality
Active in supporting the quality assurance team in performing testing
Expressing technical insights so others can handle field-related issues
Qualifications:
8+ years of experience within a commercial, enterprise level product environment
Demonstrated experience in enterprise level development
MUST have experience with open source and open source tools
MUST have expert knowledge of the Java space and practices in development
MUST have an understanding of enterprise scale systems and configurations related to security
MUST have an understanding of cloud-based architecture and design principles
Debian-based Linux platform development experience an asset
Experience in an agile, iterative or XP environments an asset
Experience with web application security an asset
Exposure to PKI cryptography highly desirable
Experience with Service Oriented Architecture an asset
IT administrative experience on different platforms is a real asset
Exceptional problem solving abilities
