Position: Business Analyst / QA

Location: Abbotsford, BC

 

IT MindFinders is conducting a search for a Business Analyst for our client in the Fraser Valley, a preferred employer with excellent employee benefits.

 

Reporting directly to the Manager, Business Solutions, the Business Analyst will develop business requirements through consultation with the various internal business units and assist the .Net Programmers to develop functional and technical specifications.  The Business Analyst is will also ensure that new functionality and changes to the existing core business system are fully tested prior to production release.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Meet with Subject Matter Experts within the internal corporate functional units to analyze current operational procedures, identify problems and learn specific input and output requirements, how data is to be summarized, and requirements for reports.

  • Write detailed description of user needs and program functions.

  • Prepare illustrative output for review and approval by users.

  • Review computer system capabilities and workflow to determine if requested changes will satisfy the user’s requirements within the existing system.

  • Recommend changes to improve the system and/or solve the problem

  • Conduct systems testing and documents findings.   

  • Ensure that changes and new functionality are fully tested and comply with specification prior to sign-off/release.

  • Define business problems with existing programs or initiates design of new applications.

  • Maintain communications with end-users to ensure systems continually meet the customer’s expectations. Ensure customer acceptance by soliciting their involvement on designs and functionality.

  • Prepare and present project deliverables to management.

  • Provide technical assistance in the preparation of requests for proposals related to systems or records.

  • Schedule and prioritize workload to ensure that QA can be completed as required within release deadlines.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post secondary education

  • Minimum 4 years experience as either a Business Analyst or a combination in Business Analysis and Quality Assurance.

  • Strong analysis skills and imagination that would support logic in processing. and attempts to break code,

  • Ability to analyze and solve complex problems, provide guidance and instruction to customers

  • Excellent English language communication skills with the ability to write clearly and concisely

  • Capacity to interact with users of varying levels of expertise as well as the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical users.

  • Must be detailed oriented in order to detect errors/shortcomings of new or changes to existing code.

  • Ability to create and use SQL queries.

  • Experience in the Financial Services industry
