Position: Infrastructure Lead
Location: Vancouver, BC
IT MindFinders is conducting a search for an Infrastructure Lead for our Vancouver based client. Reporting to the Director of IT, this individual will be responsible for ensuring the leadership of the infrastructure team and fast paced, highly secure technical environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for hands-on leadership, direction and management of a full time network administrator as well as a number of consultants. When necessary, the candidate will also be required to provide technical insight to internal project teams. The use of up to date hardware/software is an extensive part of this firm’s philosophy and operation, so there is a guaranteed opportunity to expand one’s knowledge base and experience with a variety of new technology.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide leadership, oversight and hands-on management of the network infrastructure operations and IT core infrastructure
Lead, coach and mentor company employees, direct and oversee results of contract workers
Conduct research and drive technical vision
Provide infrastructure counsel to IT Manager
Lead Support Desk function and enforce service level expectation standards
Build relationships with business-user community and empower them to become more self sufficient
Create, update and enhance IT support procedures and policies, plan and execute preventative maintenance activities and initiatives
Own responsibility to negotiate and consolidate corporate software licensing agreements
Keep current with new technologies
Take an active interest in learning the company business
Monitor the cost benefit analysis of keeping vs. outsourcing systems and services
QUALIFICATIONS
University or college degree in an information technology curriculum
Team player with a disciplined, self-directed, mature, professional approach to work
Minimum 8 years hands-on experience in a Microsoft based environment with a focus on infrastructure, management of computer operations, networking and system administration
Experience troubleshooting of LAN's, switches, routers as well as a strong understanding of TCP/IP based network protocols and services
Experienced working with VMWare
Strong understanding of project management principles
Knowledgeable with Microsoft Office 2010 Products
Experienced managing an environment with both traditional multi-office and ASP network architecture
Experience managing a server infrastructure that includes SharePoint 2010, Dynamics CRM 4, and Exchange 2007
Experience working with a software development team to setup and manage a mirrored QA and Production environment
Broad understanding of telecommunications, security and storage technologies
Energetic and self motivated with a willingness to learn and a strong spirit of innovation
Excellent problem definition and solving skills
Well developed customer service and relationship skills
Reputation for thorough follow up and follow through
Proficient at technical documentation
Excellent oral/written English communication skills
Ability to convey technical issues in non-technical terms

Financial Services industry experience
Experience with Disaster Recovery Planning
Exposure to a variety of outsourcing/hosting solutions
Contract negotiation skills
Experience with Sysaid helpdesk platform
