Position: Manager, Information Technology

 

Location: Vancouver, BC

 

Reporting to VP of Technology, the IT Manager is a hands-on role responsible for all networking and Internet-related services to both internal and external clients.  This includes a range of responsibilities from end-user support to design, installation, and maintenance of high-availability network operations in a high-volume software-as-a-service production environment. In addition, the IT Manager manages of all IT staff, and develops annual IT budget. The IT Manager is a hands-on position and the successful candidate will work closely with IT staff and other departments.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the development, maintenance, monitoring, and upgrade of all IT infrastructure and systems, including production servers, development servers, desktops, networks

  • Manage and perform Software-as-a-service application rollouts

  • Oversee the provision of end-user services, including help desk and technical support services.

  • Lead, manage and develop IT staffing, including scheduling, supervision, development, and evaluation

  • Asset Management

    • Track software licenses, warranties, maintenance agreements, and vendor contracts against audits for compliance.

    • Track hardware inventory

  • Responsibility for continual improvements – review and incorporate best practices and best technologies in IT operations and infrastructure to provide top-notch services

  • Develop cost/benefit analysis and business case for executive presentation for IT budgets and initiatives

  • Develop, maintain and implement all IT policies and procedures, including architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, and service provision

  • Manage Vendor Agreements, negotiate and administer service agreements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent

  • 8-10 of years of experience working within an IT environment

  • Experience in a supervisory role leading, coaching and mentoring junior to intermediate employees and/or contract positions

  • Experience supporting a software development environment that delivers software-as-a-service

  • Competent with VMWare server and VMware console, MS windows server 2003/2008, IIS Server 6 & 7,, Microsoft exchange, Microsoft SQL 2005/2008, Microsoft active directory, Microsoft TFS, SVN source code control, MS Sharepoint

  • Ability to architect, configure, and monitor firewalls, load balancers, network switches, VPN site-to-site links, network server

  • Experience with monitoring tools and scripting.  

  • Experience managing an office phone system and UPS’s, electrical power management.

  • Familiarity with Linux would be an asset
