IT MindFinders is conducting a search for a Senior Java Development Engineer on behalf of our client located in Vancouver, BC.  Reporting to the Project Director, the Senior Java Development Engineer will work as a senior member of an agile team with varied assignments in developing features and key extensions to our client's enterprise product suite.  The ideal individual will have a strong design background, the ability to work in a fast paced agile environment, good communication skills, outstanding rendering of designs to functional Java code, attention to quality, testability, and performance. In addition, this individual will work with heavy XML protocol development, provisioning subsystems creation, web services interfaces and user interface/web-facing implementation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Participation in clarifying feature and subsystem requirements.
• Design work necessary to define tasks and implementation.
• Construction including source coding, code review, unit testing, and integration.
• Integration of open source packages as needed to achieve functionality.
• Active in supporting SQE team members in performing testing.
• Expresses technical insights so others can handle field-related issues.
• Shows attention to details and stands a role model for more junior people.
• Performs effectively in a lightweight process environment including brief requirements.
• Capable of high performance in a two-week iteration cadence with frequent product deliveries.
• Takes ownership of tasks and executes.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 7+ years experience in commercial, enterprise-level product environment.
• Demonstrated experience in enterprise-level development.
• Must have experience with open source and open source tools.
• Must have expert knowledge of Java space and practices in development.
• Must have understanding of enterprise-scale systems and configurations related to security.
• Experience with provisioning systems and directories such as MS AD, SUNONE, or other LDAP-compliant directories an asset
• Experience with web services interfaces
• Experience with SaaS provisioning as found with Google, SFDC or similar an asset
• Experience in an agile, iterative, or XP environments.
• Work requires knowledge of complex setups and configurations.  An individual with IT admin experience on different platforms is a plus.
• Exceptional problem solving skills.  Loves finding the best solution.
• Desire to share information and insights to team members.
• Strong interpersonal communications skills.
• Self-motivated and works with minimal direction
• Self-starter able to mentor and grow junior team members.
• Must be able to gather information and understand complex features/environments.
• Bachelor of Science or equivalent
