IT MindFinders is conducting a search for a Technology Analyst for our Vancouver based client. This individual will be responsible, within established guidelines, to maintain and support core technology including hardware, operating systems, networks, communications, and utilities to ensure users are able to perform their duties effectively and efficiently. Additionally this role will support the Applications Development team in the implementation and use of core technology.
Key Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the Manager, Technology Administration Group, the Technology Architect will thoroughly understand and keep abreast of technology, including but not limited too Operating Systems, Networks, Storage, Servers and Databases.

Assist in the strategic planning of technology for the company.

Develop, select and apply systems methodologies, tools, and utilities.

Perform network administration and monitor network performance.

Perform technology maintenance including system upgrades, expansion, and changes.

Troubleshoot and tune software and hardware to insure optimum performance.

Project Manage assigned projects including planning of project timelines, assigning and reviewing project work, ensuring project meets goals and objectives and project conflicts are resolved.

Provide Internet administration, monitor Internet connection and provide firewall security.

Provide support to Applications Development and Operations in the use and operation of technology.

Evaluate and recommend new technology and/or upgrades to existing technology.

Assist in the purchase hardware and software, coordinate and evaluate quotes as well as manage the ordering of product and follow up on delivery.

Prepare both technical and usage documentation for software and hardware.

Assist in the definition of change control and insure proper change control procedures are followed.

Provide systems security, iIn conjunction with Methodologies and Administration and Corporate Audit, define security requirements and implement on various systems.

Seek and receive feedback from users and vendors, evaluate needs and respond accordingly.

Supervise Consultants, assign and review their work as well as evaluate performance quality. Guide testing carried out by Consultants. Check and approve invoices provided by Consultants.

Oversee junior staff.
Education & Must Have Skills:
-
University Degree or College Diploma and proven experience.

Minimum 3-5 years in systems support
-
Experience Implementing large server environments and configuring Unix and Windows for optimal performance in an enterprise client-server environment.

Implementing and tuning Networked Storage (SAN, NAS, NAS Gateways, CAS).
-
Skilled with enterprise management tools such as Altiris, HP Openview, Tivoli, etc.

Background establishing virtual server environments using VMware ESX and associated tools.

Background implementing and maintaining LANs and WANs, managing distributed Telephony environments is an asset.

Experience assisting Database Administrators in implementing and optimizing Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server relational databases

Technical project management experience.

Written and spoken English (primary language) preparing reports and presenting them to management

Ability to work evenings and weekends on an as needed basis
