IT MindFinders is conducting a search for a Software Engineer for our client in downtown Vancouver. The software development team is highly motivated because they work for a great company that believes in a work / life balance and high quality output. 

This role’s prime responsibility will be the maintenance of existing systems as well as designing, architecting and developing new features and functionality.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Assist or lead in the development, documentation and maintenance of a variety of software systems targeted at both external and internal customers

• Analyze functional requirements and contribute to functional and logical design of projects

• Review peers' work for security and optimization shortcomings

• Investigate and troubleshoot complex production issues, manage issues in a defect management system

• Coordinate with various teams and external contacts to ensure project deadlines are met

• Refine requirements, generate documentation that is used by both internal and external users

• Improve existing processes

MUST HAVE SKILLS:

• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering

• Minimum four years developing web applications in Java/J2EE

• Experience using Linux/UNIX systems and troubleshooting and optimizing database interactions

• Success dealing with high-availability issues and strategies

• Fluent with object-oriented design patterns and development methodologies

• Competent with user interface design and implementation

• Experienced with:

• Dynamic web content

• SSL

• unit testing

• build scripts

• object-relational data mapping

• revision control

• web application containers

• virtualization software

• hot deployment

• application performance optimizing

• Well-versed with current software development methodologies

• Expert communicator in oral and written English language skills
