Position Description:

 

IT MindFinders is conducting a search for a Microsoft SharePoint 2007 Administrator/WebMaster for the corporate offices of a Vancouver based financial services company.

 

Reporting directly to the IT Director, the successful candidate will be responsible to coordinate and perform the planning, maintenance, and accessibility of the company’s two external Web sites (Public and Private Client) as well as the internal corporate SharePoint Portal. As a member of a core IT team, the SharePoint Administrator/WebMaster will also be required to provide technical insight to internal project teams.

 

This opportunity includes responsibility for designing, building, and implementing new Web pages and sites; working with developers to integrate sites with back end applications; maintaining a solid document management structure; ensuring the consistency of the Web site’s look and feel; and performing day-to-day administration. The SharePoint Administrator/WebMaster will require the ability to multi-task in a fast paced, technical environment, interact with internal business users and respond to high demands for knowledge in a wide variety of differing systems.

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and maintain a consistent Web site architectural structure.
  • Identify, recommend, and prioritize new Web features and applications in conjunction with project teams and department managers.
  • Conduct basic testing, debugging, and documentation of Web applications using appropriate editors.
  • Ensure a consistent look and feel across the Web site by promoting uniform fonts, formatting, icons, images, and layout, and creating appropriate templates to assist content authors.
  • Find, diagnose, and fix Web site problems, including broken links typographical errors, and formatting inconsistencies.
  • Manage the acquisition and ongoing maintenance of the organization’s domain names and web hosting with the appropriate registrars.
  • Identify, implement, and manage Web site presence and promotion opportunities, such as search engine registration and optimization and establishing pointer links from other relevant Web sites.
  • Prepare a long-term plan for Web site development and presence, including standards and guidelines for content.
  • Participate in the eventual development and integration of graphical and multimedia components into the Web site, including audio and video, with due regard paid to appropriate compression techniques, resolution, sizes, color maps, and depths to ensure high quality and speed of delivery.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce Web site appropriate use and privacy policies.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on Web site traffic to the Marketing Team
  • Receive and respond to all client e-mail messages to the Webmaster in a timely and courteous fashion.
  • Create and maintain a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document for Web site users.
  • Participate in discussions with IT group on ways of continually improving the sites (design, presence, content organization, etc.)
  • Work with security analyst to perform annual security reviews of web sites and related applications.
  • Implement guidelines and policies for existing SharePoint 2007 environment
  • Take on the responsibility of being the staff’s main point of contact for the SharePoint Intranet System and ensure that the data is stored (through various gatekeepers) in the most effective way
  • Design the content for and conduct periodic training sessions with internal staff on basic usage of site applications, SharePoint, procedures etc.

 

MUST HAVE SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Exceptional English language skills (spoken and written) are mandatory
  • College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or 4 years equivalent work experience
  • Must possess strong project and people management skills; Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Well developed advanced troubleshooting skills
  • Very strong customer service orientation and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of basic project management principles
  • Hands-on experience with Web-database integration and a range of database platforms, including Oracle and SQL Server
  • Working knowledge of computer graphic and multimedia design
  • Good knowledge of Web technologies, protocols, and tools including:
    • Macromedia Flash
    • SQL Database Query Language
    • XSL/HTML/CSS/XML
    • Javascript
    • IIS 5+
    • Linux
    • Apache
    • Servlet/JSP
    • Web Services
  • Versatility and flexibility – a willingness to tackle any task from website support calls to troubleshooting complex web applications
  • Ability to do basic browser troubleshooting

 

Finance or insurance industry experience is highly desirable.
