IT MindFinders is conducting a search for a Senior Network Administrator. Reporting to the Director of IT, this individual will be responsible for ensuring the proper setup and operation of numerous servers, workstations and peripherals in a fast paced, highly secure technical environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the weekly tasks of one other network administrator as well as a number of consultants. When necessary, the candidate will also be required to provide technical insight to internal project teams. The use of up to date hardware/software is an extensive part of this firm’s philosophy and operation, so there is a guaranteed opportunity to expand one’s knowledge base and experience with a variety of new technology.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ability to oversee the maintenance of a healthy bank of 12 Windows servers (IBM X-series) as well as management of IBM SAN’s and Tape Libraries
- Optimize system performance and monitoring of all systems
- Manage TCP/IP and core network services such as DNS, AD, and DHCP as well as responsibility for MS Terminal Services 2003
- Administer SharePoint Portal Server and Exchange Server 2007
- Assist in the development and ongoing amendments of company user policy
- Update software patches on workstations and servers using WSUS
- Manage Symantec Antivirus Corp 10
- Oversee Symantec/Veritas Backup Exec 11d backup strategy and address any problems.
- Ensure regular restores are performed to test integrity of systems
- Lead the creation of a new image process for 50 IBM/Lenovo workstations to reduce system deployment/rebuild times
- Lead the development of a system for centrally deploying software to internal workstations
- Provide senior level assistance with troubleshooting workstation problems
- Ensure a system of network documentation is regularly updated and maintained
- Provide status updates and effectively communicating problems to IT Director, end users and the rest of the IT Team as needed
MUST HAVE SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Exceptional English language skills (spoken and written) are mandatory
- Minimum university degree or 2-year technical diploma – IT Discipline
- Microsoft Certification in currently supported systems or technical degree with IT/PC Maintenance focus or equivalent (A+ Certification or equivalent experience)
- Minimum of 5 years practical experience administrating a Windows 2003 environment (including Windows Server 2003, MS Exchange 2007, and Windows XP Pro.)
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Professional Suite 2003
- Very strong customer service orientation, ability to manage small teams and provide occasional mentoring to peers
- Must possess strong project and people management skills as well as be versatile and flexible – a willingness to tackle any task from desktop support to network architecture design
- Well developed advanced troubleshooting skills - Not only are you capable of solving the problem yourself, you also understand how to manage the process of ensuring the problem gets resolved - including managing the efforts of others.
- Ability to leverage contacts, resources, online sources, vendor support channels etc. to get advanced level problems resolved.
- Ability to work in a team oriented, collaborative environment or individually when required
- Must be willing to pursue continuing education and skills upgrading
- Knowledgable with the following technologies
- Solaris
- Database experience (SQL & Oracle)
- IP based KVM’s
- APC Symmetra backup systems
- Experience using Microsoft SMS or other automation system
- A good understanding of Cisco routers/access points
- Experience with Xerox multifunction laser products printing/scanning
Finance or insurance industry experience preferred
