IT MindFinders is conducting a search for a Microsoft Systems Network Engineer for our Lower Mainland based client. Our client’s service offering includes consultation, advice and direction in local and wide-area network connectivity, network security, storage, software development, technical support services and hardware procurement.

Working for a Gold Microsoft Partner, the ideal candidate will have a background working in the VAR community. Additionally, the candidate will maintain Microsoft certifications that support the implementation and/or support of innovative solutions with Microsoft infrastructure technology solutions.

Because, this role will have a key emphasis on customer facing activities, exceptional interpersonal skills and customer service are required to provide on-going service and pre-sales support.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Participate in building relationships within a client and within technology, partner and professional user groups

• Identify business and functional client requirements

• Assess user requirements for adequacy and completeness and provide timely feedback/corrections

• Design infrastructure architecture that supports user requirements and effective migration programs

• Identify technical design issues and recommend possible solutions

• Identify and describe testing concepts

• Participate in developing solutions for proposals of low to medium complexity for small and medium sized clients

• Perform network, client, server and network services troubleshooting

• Installation/configuration/modification/troubleshooting of hardware/software/peripherals on-site at customer locations.

• Analyze problems from a systems perspective and isolate to hardware or software to bring problem to resolution.

MUST HAVE SKILLS, EXPERIENCE and CERTIFICATIONS

• Considerable experience in Windows based server operations, problem recognition and resolution, and change management

• University or college level degree and/or relevant work experience

• Proficiency with all Windows Operating Systems, Active Directory, Exchange Server 2003, MS SQL Server 2000, IIS – MCSE, MCP

• Practiced with Citrix and VMware solutions – CCEA/CCIA and VCP certifications preferred

• Proficiency with SQL databases and connectivity

• Good understanding of network topology and protocols, familiar with trouble shooting best practices.

• Enjoys working in a busy and ever changing technical environment

• Customer facing experience in the reseller channel - excellent verbal and written English language skills

• Strong organizational skills, good judgment and ability to work on multiple projects concurrently while focusing on high-priority tasks.

• Ability to work as a team member as well as perform independently

• Ability to meet strict deadlines

• Must hold a valid drivers license and have access to a vehicle for on-site support calls.

• Desktop support and network administration (Microsoft environment - Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, SQL Server, etc.)

• Backup and restore i.e.: Veritas and ArcServe, storage certifications and experience

• Terminal Services

• Software virus control i.e.: Symantec, McAfee and Trend.

• Cisco Firewall/VPN or Routing/Switching, experience with other Firewall / Routers

• HP Proliant Server technology / HP ASE or MASE

• Preference will be given to Microsoft Certified candidates
