Position: System Administrator - Corporate Computing

Position Description:

IT MindFinders is conducting a search for an internal IT department System Administrator for our downtown Vancouver client. This role will be a member of a high performance team in an organization that is both well established and growing.

The successful candidate will manage and perform system administration functions that ensure system integrity. This position will also carry out system performance tuning, security measures, capacity monitoring and troubleshooting as well as plan and perform installation of patches and upgrades.

In addition to the development of preventative maintenance plans, the Systems Administrator will administer desktop and mobile computing security, antivirus, spam control and other security control measures.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform daily administration tasks to maintain the health and viability of the MS Windows 2005 Active Directory domain and Exchange Server 2003 environments supporting 500+ clients.

  • Maintain client AD/Exchange accounts, access permissions, quotas, etc.

  • Plan, develop, configure and maintain Security & Distribution Groups and Policies.

  • Manage daily administration of Exchange email environment including anti-virus, anti-spam filtering.

  • Research and develop plan for future migration to Exchange 2007.

  • Manage daily administration of Blackberry Enterprise Server hosting 150+ clients.

  • Manage daily administration of Citrix Secure Gateway and published applications. Publish new applications as required.

  • Manage desktop and mobile computing via Altiris Management Suite. This includes creating policies, deploying software packages, asset inventory

  • Write instructional and technical support documents for system administrators/support staff as well as end-users/customers. Document and educate co-workers on all implemented solutions as well as improvements and enhancements.

  • Work closely with the IT management team, support and customer care teams and other internal partners to satisfy all customer requirements.

  • Provide off hour, on call support as defined by client business requirements

MUST HAVE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • College Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration

  • Minimum 5 years relevant work experience

  • MSCE certification

  • Experience with Exchange Server 2003, Microsoft Active Directory and experience managing in a multi-site environment with 500+ users

  • Thorough understanding of group and security policies, organizational unit structure within complex domain structure while observing best policy practices. .

  • Windows Server Update Services - patch and service pack management.

  • Managing Windows 2000/XP/Vista workstations and mobile users via Altiris Management Software.

  • Create software deployment packages, system images, enforce enterprise policies, etc.

  • Hands-on skill and technical proficiency in problem determination and troubleshooting techniques.

  • Preference given to those with Citrix, Altiris, Symantec certifications.

  • Strong interpersonal skills – excellent English spoken and written communication
